A Different World - book review - word-on-the-web

So what is it about?	This book is the continuation of the "Make Povert History" Theme. It encourages people to look further at the issue of poverty in the world, to not only highlight the cause but also encourages groups or/and individuals to get involved and make a difference.
Who is it for?	The book is a resource, full of ready made material to use with youth groups or young people. The book includes a CD Rom with video, photographs and worksheets. Inside there are activities and case studies to use alongside the CD with ten sessions with each session (about an hour) split into smaller time slots. Initially it is for use for and by Christians as there is Biblical material inside, but can be used as a secular resourse also if your intention is simply to promote the cause of world poverty. Although it says it is suitable for use with ages 11-17, I found it to be exciting, encouraging and inspiring. In my opinion adults who want to know about the issue or already have some background would also get a lot out of it.
Does it do what it says on the label?	The book does everything it says and more. As someone who does not enjoy reading and likes to be stimulated, I not only found it easy to read, but as it was split into smaller sections it gives the reader chance to take their time, and reflect before proceeding. As it contains a variety of stimulation, from audio, to visual, reflection and activity, the book really has a lot to offer those who prefer different styles of learning and gathering information.
Enjoy or endure?	I would pick this up to use, and read again, I did enjoy it because it inspired me to not only read but also to become more of anactivist in this subject. So much so, I may even join a political party!
Any other comments?	Not one for spending money on books, I would not only buy it, but have also reccomended it already to others. In my opinion "Give it a try!"
